Its a Good start. One of the factors which we all should consider is the irrational use of medicine especially the antibiotics and many factors that guide the use of antibiotics. Considering the vastness of this topic it would be better to post this topic for a wider discussion and summate the views to form a strategy on which this theme will work in relation to Increased adverse drug reactions and drug events and Increasing antimicrobial resistance.

This is Dr.Radha Madhavan, Professor & HOD, Department of Microbiology, SRM Medical College Hospital & Research Centre, SRM Nagar,Kattankulathur, Kanchipuram DistrictTamilnadu 603203.
I am planning to conduct a CME programme on " antibiotic Susceptibility testing" for Microbiologists from Tamilnadu and Podicherry states. I intend involving clinicians also in this programme.This is mainly to create awareness among not only microbiologists but also among clinicians for rational use and proper interpretation of laboratory tests, taking into account the age, clinical background, consideration of renal and hepatic involvement of the patient for whom the antibiotic sensitivity testing is performed.
I would be very happy if IIMAR also would consider conducting such programmes to create more awareness about this problem.

i feel , it wud be in the best interest to have a daily or weekly topic of discussion on the blog , in the area o antibiotic resistance and the moderator (or moderators) can summat ethe views at the end of it all , which can be then jotted down as a blog entry in article format and circulated to all thru the net! tat wud bring out more ideas, issues nad means to solve the problem at hand
i think we need a real awareness not more in terms of just words rather it should be more in terms of deeds .start wrkin than blaming the situation
